I feel like this is a hidden gem... away from the busy chaos on cannery row we stumbled across this spot just walking in the area killing time for our table at bubba gump. The ambiance gives dive bar. We sat for a couple of beers we were seated quickly in the patio to accommodate our pup. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and although we didn't get any food we had people sitting next to us who did and the waitress seemed so friendly. It was a short but sweet visit. Beer was nice and cold, no complaints. Will be back if in the area for some beers
Came here after the Monterey Half Marathon with some friends. We drank, played pool, hung out, and had some appetizers. Service was good, drinks were strong, and we loved the vibes.
Fun place for a bite and cocktail. Their menu advertised a traditional Bermuda Fish Chowder, and I was all in. I had the chowder with the splash of black rum and sherry pepper sauce (love the stuff), my SIL had the Mexican Street Corn Soup and we shared the Sticky Bourbon Pork Belly appetizer. We loved everything and will definitely go back when we are in town again. The only thing we didn't like is the door to the patio area was open and a very chilly breeze came through the whole time we were there. We didn't stay, but they were setting up for live music when we headed out. Definitely recommended for a comforting and fairly reasonably priced meal and drinks.
My family ended up here after walking out of another restaurant that was not able to handle their crowd. The Salty Seal ended up being a great choice for our family. We had a child and me (a vegan) in our party and they had food for all of us. A lot of times there are zero vegan options on pub menus so I was very happy to see a vegan appetizer. They also have a good selection of beers and cocktails. My margarita was very good. The service was also great! Very attentive waitress who was friendly and accommodating. I think her name was Ana. Overall I would definitely recommend eating at the Salty Seal while visiting Cannery Row.
